Achieve impact by exploring the practices, processes, and frameworks of Māori ways of seeing, knowing and being.

The Te Ao Māori and impact module aims to support all those involved in the science and research we deliver to better understand and incorporate Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori in meaningful ways to maximise the impact from our research.

iPEN want to actively support our scientists, researchers, and other stakeholder in our collective efforts in this area, and so are working with and supporting those who have a lead role in developing our capability in this area, and will support and engage where we can add value.

Consequently, we don't have a training workshop yet. There is a range of valuable resources that we encourage you to become familiar with, so we collectively continue to build our capability in this area. Check them out below.

Key resources

The following resources are considered 'must reads' by the iPEN team and other key partners in the system.

Vision Mātauranga is MBIE's key guiding policy document to support the integration of Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori into the RS&I sector.
By embedding this across all priority investment areas, MBIE seeks to realise the vision of unlocking the science and innovation potential of Māori knowledge, resources, and people.
All scientists and researchers should be familiar with this document.
Vision Mātauranga
"unlocking the science innovation and potential of Māori knowledge, resources and people"

A guide to Vision Mātauranga. Lessons from Māori Voices in the New Zealand Science Sector.
This guide, produced by Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (New Zealand's Māori Centre of Research Excellence) jointly with their partners, describes the good practice principles for embedding Vision Mātaranga.

It is broken into three sections, the first is written specifically for Māori researchers, the second is for all researchers, and the third is targeted to government agencies and research organisations.
