professional networks

Connect with other colleagues via a range of impact- focused professional networks and associations.
This page details a range of different professional organisations and other networks who have an interest in evidencing impact, and growing peoples' capability to do so.
These are some of the networks our iPEN team members have found supportive and useful. Feel free to suggest others too.

Professional evaluation associations

The evaluation profession has been evidencing impact for decades, and has a vibrant professional community whose members share their knowledge and experience on how to do this well, across a hugely diverse range of contexts.

Aotearoa New Zealand Evaluation Association
Network with New Zealand colleagues, access professional development, and keep in touch with impact-related news from New Zealand. ANZEA also publishes The New Zealand journal Evaluation Matters, and works closely with Mā Te Rae - the Māori Evaluation Association - and ANZEA's Pasifika fono.

Australian Evaluation Society
Our colleagues across the Tasman also have a thriving evaluation community, which our iPEN colleagues have been engaging with as part of our own professional outreach. You can extend your professional network through the AES, access a number of 'SIGs' (Special Interest Groups), attend their annual conference (when they start again post-COVID), and access their online professional development.

Other evaluation associations and societies to check out include the Canadian Evaluation Society, the American Evaluation Association, and the European Evaluation Society.

Organisations and networks interested in research impact

This is a collection of other networks who the iPEN team have been engaging with to better understand how to track science impact, both locally and internationally.

Since 2020 the University of Auckland have been delivering their 'Impact through Culture Change' webinar series.
The iPEN team have found the sessions they have hosted invaluable and recommend that you watch them too.
To view previous recordings click here (search Impact through Culture Change if they don't show). To get updates of when their next webinar is coming, get in touch or follow them 'Research Impact' via Eventbrite.

AESIS is the Network for Advancing & Evaluating the Societal Impact of Science.
This international open community hosts a range of information and activities that may be of interest to anyone who demonstrates the impact of science.
They have a tiered membership structure, which includes a free option. From their website you can subscribe to receive updates, sign up for training opportunities or their conference.
They are based in Europe, so capability building and networking opportunities don't always  run at time that work for Aotearoa.

Are there other networks or associations we should include here?
Let us know here.
